The Seven Heavenly
Virtues Of Self-Tanning
     09 Nov 12

Are you practising the seven heavenly virtues of self-tanning? If you’ve ever found yourself in streaky, uneven self-tan purgatory, following this advice will ensure you earn your tanning wings!

1. Pause to rest your pores after shaving

Of course you’ll want your tan to be complemented by heavenly smooth skin, but trust us, it’s best if you shave or wax your legs the day before you apply your tan. Leave 12 hours between shaving your legs and applying self-tan, and a full day if you wax. This ensures that your skin is less irritated, and tanning lotion doesn’t build up in your pores.

2. Polish your halo

Angels know that the only way to achieve an even tan is to scrub, scrub, scrub with a water based exfoliant. (Why water based? Oil based products act as a barrier between tanning lotion and skin.) Crazy Angel’s Halo Polish, (250ml RRP: £9.50) will buff away the dead skin cells that are to blame for uneven tanning, unveiling fresh, new skin.

3. Smooth your wings

You won’t reach tanning heaven without paying a little extra attention to problem areas such as elbows, knees, ankles and feet. Crazy Angel’s secret to banishing build-up is Wing Smoothing Spray, (250ml RRP: £9.50); a quick spritz on problem areas will ensure your tan glides on smoothly.

4. Mixing products is sinful, not saintly

Don’t succumb to the temptation to mix your self-tan with body lotion if you’re after a gentle golden glow! Some people think this is a good way of toning down your tan, but the products’ ingredients can conflict, with streaky or patchy results. Virtuous self-tanners know that Crazy Angel’s Golden Kiss Tanning Lotion, (200ml RRP £14.95), is the safer way to look subtly sun-kissed, not streaky!

5. Angels don’t hide their hands

Protecting your hand with a mitt, (included with Crazy Angel’s Angel Express Fast Acting Liquid Tan, (200ml, RRP £19.95), will prevent those tell-tale fauxy tan palms! After applying tanning lotion to the rest of your body, remove your gloves and dispense a small amount of lotion onto the back of each hand. Rub them together, allowing just a little to spread into the gaps between your fingers.

6. The face of an angel

Clever angels keep Q-tips to hand when they’re tanning. Dampen one and run it along your eyebrows and hairline to remove any deposits and avoid unsightly build-up.

7. Moisturiser makes your tan last longer

Think of moisturiser as a guardian angel watching over your tan. Crazy Angel’s Supreme Goddess Tan Extending Moisturiser, (250ml RRP £10.50) prolongs your tan with a mild tanning agent, as well as nourishing your skin, keeping it soft and sleek.
