Find a space to work at home

With ever increasing numbers of people now doing at least some work from home, it’s not unusual for people to try and incorporate a home office or workspace in among the other rooms in the house.

And with the increase in home computer ownership, more and more desks have been manufactured with the home, rather than the office in mind.

We don’t always have that spare room available to convert into a home office though, and sometimes, it just doesn’t feel right having stuff to do with work in the living room or bedroom, or wherever else you have the room to put a desk. And though with the portability of lap tops and tablets, it is possible to perch on the sofa or at the kitchen table to work, it’s not always a very comfortable position to be in.

There are some great choices for home offices that look more like normal pieces of furniture apart from the times they are in use though. If you search for a pine desk from Furnishing Homes, you’ll get a wide variety of styles and designs of desk that will fit well in whatever kind of décor you have. If yours is a traditional style home, then you can find a traditional style desk to go with it, but you can also find things like hidden desks, which open out to reveal a proper work station when you want it, but can be closed when not in use to resemble an attractive wooden unit.

Of course, if you’re a full time home worker, then it may be best to turn over one of the bedrooms to be a full-time office. You can still let it double up as an occasional guest room, if you buy a neat sofa bed to fit in with your desk and filing cabinets. There is some really great home office furniture now available, including solid oak furniture that looks almost too good to work at.

It all depends on how much work you’re going to do from home, but there are so many different options out there these days that it’s no problem to find furniture that will serve you well for home-working.
