Give your lounge a new look
The lounge is one of those rooms in the house that can sometimes become a bit neglected. As it belongs to everyone, it tends to get used and abused and can get to look a bit tired after a few years. However, it’s a really important room in most households as it’s where the family can all relax and hang out together. So it’s worth giving it a refresh every now and then, making it a pleasure to be in.
If you’ve decided that it’s time to change the furniture and redecorate, think about what arrangement of seating would suit your family best. You might be the kind of people who like to snuggle up all close together on a corner sofa, or maybe you prefer a little more separation and personal space. In which case, it’s probably better to get a sofa and a couple of armchairs. You might be tempted to go for a new look shape or style of furniture. There are many different designs to choose from – from the very traditional sofa, to a recliner chair or sofa, or even a chaise sofa.
Your choice will also depend on the shape of your living room – do you really have enough room for a recliner? Remember that they need a bit of space in front of and behind them to allow the recliner to extend. And corner sofas can sometimes be difficult to fit in a room that has things like radiators attached to the walls, as they’re better pushed right back into a corner.
Once you settle on a shape for your seating, you need to choose a finish – do you like fabric sofas or leather ones? It depends what kind of style suits you; you won’t be restricted in colour choice in either finish.
When you’ve made up your mind about the furniture, you’ll probably also want to repaint the walls and maybe even change the flooring, so get these things done before your new furniture is delivered!
