Wedgwood the Restaurant on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile celebrates five years of successful business this month.

Few would have expected that a restaurant opening in these challenging economic years could have achieved so much in just five years. Since opening the doors in August 2007 Wedgwood the Restaurant has been awarded Harden’s UK Best Rated Newcomer, a Fodor’s Choice Award for the past two consecutive years, won SLTN’s Restaurant of the Year twice and is again in the running for the award this year, featured in the Daily Telegraph as one of the two best places to dine in Edinburgh and named by Sunday Times in the Top 10 Scottish Foodie Destinations for two consecutive years.

The list continues with a number of personal achievements for Paul Wedgwood including being given a Silver Medal at the Scottish Chef Awards, representing Scotland for two consecutive years at the Celtic Festival in Barbados along with being invited to conduct numerous demonstrations and radio appearances nationally and internationally.

Earlier this year the restaurant also underwent a considerable refurbishment to create an even more stylish restaurant. The downstairs area of the restaurant had a complete renovation and the upstairs area had a facelift with some stunning lighting.

“It has been a very exciting, albeit challenging five years” says chef and co-owner Paul Wedgwood.  “My fiancée Lisa and I set out to offer guests a perfect night out, with fantastic food and in relaxed and stylish surroundings.  With the accolades behind us we feel that we’ve probably come close to our goal.  However, as with any restaurateur we are not sitting back and relaxing yet – we have plenty of exciting developments and challenges ahead.”

This year also saw the launch of a new website which aims to share the ethos of Wedgwood the Restaurant with Edinburgh locals as well as visitors to the city. Paul Wedgwood is sharing some of his hints and tips as well as recipes from his vast collection of eclectic ideas. The website also allows users to make a reservation online and also buy gift vouchers to use in Wedgwood the Restaurant.
